The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island held its 2023 Rhode Island Cancer Summit on October 11, 2023. Dr. Janet de Moor, PhD, MPH, Deputy Associate Director of the Healthcare Delivery Research Program at National Cancer Institute shared updates on what is being done to address cancer-related financial toxicity at the national level. Our keynote presenter, Dr. S. Vincent Rajkumar, Professor of Medicine, Division of Hematology at the Mayo Clinic discussed his research related to financial toxicity related to clinical trials. The 2023 Summit also featured two panels, one highlighting the experiences of a cancer patient facing financial toxicity after their cancer diagnosis and the other being a call to action on what we can do at the state level to address this issue.
