REPORTS TO: Executive Director

STATUS: Full time, non-exempt

PARTNERSHIP TO REDUCE CANCER IN RHODE ISLAND
The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island (PRCRI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and the Rhode Island State Cancer Coalition whose mission is to prevent cancer and improve the quality of life of all Rhode Islanders living with cancer through education, advocacy, and supportive resources. PRCRI works closely with the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program at the RI Department of Health to implement the RI Cancer Prevention and Control Strategic Plan or “RI State Cancer Plan.” The RI State Cancer Plan includes goals and objectives around primary prevention, secondary prevention, survivorship and caregiving, and health equity. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY
PRCRI is currently seeking a Coalition Coordinator / PSE Specialist to coordinate the Rhode Island Cancer Coalition and implementation of Rhode Island State Cancer Prevention and Control Strategic Plan strategies. This position is responsible for member recruitment and engagement, and policy, system, and environmental change (PSE) strategy implementation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Executive Director and the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program Director at the RI Department of Health to establish program goals and deliverables, work plans, and timelines.

  • Recruit and engage appropriate coalition members (individual and organizational).

  • Form relationships with new community partners and enhance existing partnerships.

  • Organize and convene work groups, committees, and task forces that have a focus on workplan implementation and record minutes at meetings.

  • Identify PSE strategies for the coalition to implement.

  • Communicate with the Program Director on coalition progress and potential issues via regular, timely updates.

  • Maintain communications with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, coalition members, survivors, community partners, consultants, and funders on coalition efforts and progress.

  • Provide monthly performance reports to the Board of Directors and Program Director at the RI Department of Health.

  • Schedule work group, committee, and task force meetings and send out reminders.

  • Develop education materials with coalition staff, members, and partners to increase cancer prevention and enhance survivorship.

  • Attend and table at community events to promote the coalition and its work, network with community partners, and recruit new members.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Human Services, or related field with comparable professional work experience in community health, family, or social services.

  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and carry out concurrent projects on deadline.

  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving techniques.

  • Persistent attention to detail, while maintaining an overall view.

  • Demonstrated high work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.

  • Excellent writing, organizational, and oral communication skills, bilingual or multilingual is a plus.

  • Demonstrated abilities in computer technology, report writing and public speaking.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

  • Available to work flexible hours as needed to get the work done.

  • Regular travel is required by vehicle. Must have a current driver’s license.

  • Strong passion for the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
